candy-cane-scrub-07As a general rule, we’re not big fans of white sugar at Blue Sky MD. Unless, of course, you’re planning on using it to exfoliate dry skin instead of baking diet-busting desserts. Between holiday shopping, visiting in-laws, attending parties and hanging decorations, you’re probably feeling like you could use a little relaxation right about now. We love this DIY Peppermint Sugar Foot Scrub from the Idea Room blog. It’s easy to make, perfect for sore feet or dry hands, and is a good Christmas gift (if you need some last-minute ideas).

So whether you’re resting your feet from a holiday party or an intense work-out, give them a little extra TLC with this fun DIY project.

Peppermint Candy Can Sugar Scrub

2 cups white granulated sugar
1/4 – 1/3 cup almond oil or coconut oil
3-4 drops Peppermint essential oil (you can buy some online here)

Mix all of the ingredients together to make the scrub (it’s that easy!). To create the candy-cane effect, separate it into two bowls. Add a couple drops of food coloring to one bowl and mix well. Layer the two colors into a jar or container to create red & white stripes.

To use:

Take a small amount of the sugar scrub and rub all over dry skin for at least 30 seconds. Gently rinse off with warm water, and feel the silky smooth skin left behind.
